A reception was held in London for 20th July Peace and Freedom Day and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay, who was in London, also attended the reception. Speaking at the reception Minister Özersay said:” As a community all of us had very serious suffering and there were many migrations.” Recording that Turkish Cypriots do not want any people or communities to live through the same agonies, Özersay said that even when asking those with different political views, the common desire of everyone is not to return to the pre-1974 period. Özersay said: “None of us want to return to the pre-1974 period and as the administrators of TRNC we behave within the responsibility of this mission”.

Özersay continued :
“In 1974, we saw guarantors who brought about a coup against the state, and guarantor countries who did not fulfil their responsibility. In 1974, we also saw one guarantor who supported their brothers wholeheartedly with courage. We are grateful to them”.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay conducted the opening of the exhibition “Biz/US” organised by the Public Relations Office within the context of “The Project for the Turkish Cypriots living abroad”. Özersay was accompanied by his wife, Aliye Ummanel, during the opening of the exhibition.
