In his speech at the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit, addressing the Heads of State and government officials, President Mustafa Akıncı emphasized that it is possible to establish a balance in which all parties can gain profit at the same time by considering the underground resources in the region with a reasonable economic formula. Stating that this will ease the reaching of regional peace as well as sustaining peace and bringing economic dependency on the agenda, President Akıncı said, “Today if we spent intense effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem, it is not only for ourselves. If we succeed to remove this lasting problem we know that it will be beneficial for our region.”
Emphasizing that the solution to be found for the Cyprus problem will be a good example for the Middle East which is struggling with war and social destruction due to the effects of internal conflicts, Akıncı said that we can also be a strong intersection point for joint projects and projections which ensure regional cooperation.
Furthermore, in his speech Akıncı mentioned the issues of natural resources, refugee problems, globalization and global terrorism.
