Akıncı: “Our own institutions should manage this water in the best way”

President Mustafa Akıncı said regarding the water coming from Turkey: “Our own institutions should manage this water in the best way.  We believe that we will achieve this.”

President Akıncı replied to the questions of the press after having a working lunch together with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Akıncı underlined that the arrival of 75 million cubic meters of water from Turkey was very important because the Turkish Cypriots would attain drinking water instead of salted water.

Pointing out that if the sustainability of the technology is proved, new opportunities will arise Mustafa Akıncı said: “Developing and strengthening of the TRNC economy will make a settlement more sustainable in the future.”

Expressing his belief that with this project the future of the Turkish Cypriot people would be much better than today, President Akıncı said that this work has to be carried out in cooperation with a very important and well-established institution such as the State Hydraulic Works.
