President Mustafa Akıncı, who returned to the island following his participation in the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit in İstanbul, stated that terrorism and the refugee crisis were discussed at the summit and also a panel was held regarding the involuntary migration and he added that he was one of the speakers at the panel.
Mentioning that the Eurasian geography is very important, Akıncı said that Turkey is one of the important countries that plays an important role in this geography.
Stating that the summit was fruitful on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people and the country, Akıncı added that:
“Being in İstanbul and making various contacts was definitely fruitful on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people and the country. In this context, we had a chance to meet with the 11th President of Turkey Abdullah Gül and the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Responsible for Cyprus Affairs Tuğrul Türkeş and to discuss the latest developments in the Cyprus issue. Now there’s another process that is waiting for us. It is necessary to make assignments in order to form the new government.
