Bozkır: The Cyprus issue has reached a stage that can be solved

Turkey’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkır stated that the Cyprus issue has reached an important and resolvable point after long years. Bozkır also said that Turkey’s desire about the solution of the Cyprus issue is same with the desire of the Turkish Cypriots to reach a bi-zonal, bi-communal solution based on political equality.

Bozkır: “It is important that this will be recorded as the primary law in the EU acquis. We intend to support and to collaborate with you in this regard as Turkey.”

During his official visit to the island, Bozkır was received by President Mustafa Akıncı, Speaker of the Assembly Sibel Siber and Prime Minister Ömer Kalyoncu. Afterwards, Bozkır met with Foreign Minister Emine Çolak, Minister of Public Works, Environment and Culture Kutlu Evren and Minister of Transport Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu.
