President of the Turkish Cypriot Association of Municipalities (KTBB) and Gönyeli Mayor Ahmet Y. Benli indicated that the Secretary General of Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, Jean-Philippe Bozouls, and the President of the Chamber of Local Authorities, Anders Knape, will come to Cyprus today.
Stating that this visit is very important for both themselves and the country, Benli said that this was the result of the representation that they moved forward in the European Council.
Explaining that he will have a meeting with the most important two names from the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Gönyeli Municipality today, Benli said “We believe in the European criteria for the development of local democracy. We are determined to act together with all our municipalities for European Charter of Local Self-Government. In such a process, we are happy to host senior European visitors in our country”.
