KERRY: “NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR A SETTLEMENT SHOULD BE EVALUATED”

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu met with the United States Secretary of State John Kerry within the framework of his official contacts in Washington. Cyprus issue was also discussed during the meeting.

Davutoğlu and Kerry held a joint press conference after their meetings. During the conference, Davutoğlu stated that they have covered a wide range of issues with his counterpart during their meetings and that Turkey and the US always work together on frozen conflicts such as Nagorno-Karabakh and Cyprus as well as on ongoing conflicts such as Syria.

For his part, Kerry said: “Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot representatives have achieved significant progress and we urge both sides to benefit from the new window of opportunity and resume the full-fledged negotiations.”
