It was stated that a defensive alliance was signed between South Cyprus and Armenia on the issue of defence.
Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros reported that Greek Cypriot Minister of Defence Hristoforos Fokaidis paid a one day visit to the Erivan, capital of Armenia, pervious day. According to the news, in his speech during the joint press conference, Fokaidis indicated that at a period of geopolitical similarity, instability and asymmetrical treats, it is needed to make strengthened cooperation in the field of security. Ohanyan also emphasized on requirement of developing relations between South Cyprus and Armenia. Stating that he accepted the invitation of Fokaidis to visit South Cyprus, Ohanyan expressed his desire for attending “Argonaftis” (argonot) exercise which will take place in 2016 summer.
