The two-storied building on Girne Avenue No.172 which was used as a residence and a clinic since 1939 by our existence and freedom struggle leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük, first opened to service as a museum in 1997. The museum is the first private museum in the TRNC.
The museum which was opened in the13th year of his death, was fully created by the contributions of Dr. Fazıl Küçük’s Family.
With the opening of his house as a museum it was aimed to keep the place that he lived for many years alive and to reflect his struggle to large masses within the bounds of possibilities.
The museum was used as resistance headquarters of the Turkish Cypriot people until the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization (T.M.T.) in 1958. It was also the headquarters of the political leadership after the establishment of the TMT.
The museum became the management centre of the “Halkın Sesi” newspaper from 1942 until the death of Dr. Fazıl Küçük. In his speech during the opening ceremony of the museum President Akıncı said that Dr. Fazıl Küçük is coming together once more with the public.
