It’s stated that the economic crisis in recent years in the Greek Cypriot side has shaken the foundation of the structure of Greek Cypriot Society and caused fundamental changes in the society. Greek Cypriot Alithia newspaper wrote that family institution which has always been strong, has been weakened since 2011 due to the economic crisis. While divorces increased marriages decreased, at the same time a decrease has been seen at the population of Greek Cypriots within this four year period. The newspaper which wrote that the economic crisis brought poverty and unemployment with it, also stated that crime and scandals have increased and the youth are going abroad to find jobs.
