UN Special Envoy Espen Barth Eide said that he is getting more optimistic every day as Cyprus peace talks are being taken to the next level. Eide was a guest at a luncheon on Tuesday hosted by Archbishop Chrysostomos. Speaking to the press later, Eide said that he had the opportunity to brief the Archbishop on the Cyprus talks and get his opinion. Eide also said that everyone in Cyprus should be happy for having religious leaders on both sides who are open to dialogue and cooperation and he added that he just wanted to share the support of the Archbishop for the work that the leaders are doing and he as the envoy of the Secretary General is doing, is something that he very much appreciates and he is very happy to have this opportunity to exchange perspectives.
