UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide will arrive in Cyprus on 6 April, Monday.

Eide will be received by President Derviş Eroğlu on 7 April and he will meet with leaders and negotiators until 8 April.

According to the statement of UN, Eide is coming to the island to follow up on the encouraging indications received during his last trip to the island regarding a possible resumption of the negotiations.

Eide will meet bilaterally with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders to continue discussions on prospects for the resumption of talks in the spring.

Together with his Good Offices team, he will also meet bilaterally with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot negotiators in support of their substantive preparations.

 The Special Adviser continues to be optimistic about the prospects for a return to structured, results-oriented negotiations, and looks forward to this visit as an important step towards renewing the momentum in the talks.
