Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu who was in the TRNC to hold official meetings.

 The Cyprus negotiation process and the cooperation and collaboration between the two ministries was discussed at the meeting, which was held at the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu welcomed Cavusoglu at the entrance of the ministry.

 The two ministers held a bilateral meeting following the meeting between the two MFA delegations.

 Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mustafa Lakadamyalı, General Director Kemal Köprülü and other ministry directors accompanied Ertuğruloğlu during the meeting between the delegations. The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Derya Kanbay and Turkish Foreign Ministry officials were also present at the meeting.

 In the press statement before the meeting, Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu pointed out that all the opinions on the Cyprus negotiation process were presented at the meeting held at the Presidency with the participation of the government officials and political party leaders, and added that the necessary updates had also been given at the joint press conference of President Akıncı and Minister Çavuşoğlu.

 Stating that the two Foreign Ministers discussed the bilateral issues between the Turkish and TRNC foreign ministries, Ertuğruloğlu emphasised that he was extremely pleased to host Minister Çavuşoğlu.

 Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said that the meeting to discuss the current state of the Cyprus negotiations at the Presidency had been constructive and useful.

 Stating that a road map had been  set for the future by Turkey and Turkish Cypriot side, which  would be useful for the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people, Çavuşoğlu also emphasized the close cooperation with Ertuğruloğlu on a joint Ministerial level . Pointing out the value of the collaboration between the two foreign ministries, Çavuşoğlu said that they will continue to work for the TRNC’s visibility and effectiveness in the international arena, including increasing the number of representative offices of the TRNC both in Turkey and overseas, for the improvement of the foreign representative offices and for the recognition of the TRNC passport in more countries.
