Minister of Foreign Affairs Özdil Nami attended a program on Sim TV the day before and made statements about the current stage of negotiations. Nami said that Greek Cypriot side’s putting forth proposals on the negotiation table that President of Cyprus can be elected with votes of all citizens and by principle of simple majority makes it impossible to say that negotiations have been continuing from the stage left.

Moreover, expressing that although 4 months passed after the signing of the joint statement, a new consensus has not been reached and on the contrary previous consensus has began to disappear FM Nami added that only the joint statement is not enough because there is UN Acquis and convergence papers coming from the past and if they are disregarded, the process will get great harm.
