The OIC 40th Meeting of ‘Council of Foreign Ministers’ started in the capital of Guinea Republic, Conakry today. Foreign Minister Özdil Nami has attended the meeting as the representative of TRNC at observer status.
On the first day of his contacts Nami had a short meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu and then he came together with Saudi Arabian Ex-minister Dr.Iyad Medeni who will take over the Secretary General position after İhsanoğlu. Medeni asked Nami to express privately what he demanded from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member countries during the meeting which was realized upon his request.
Asking for information regarding the difficulties that the TRNC has been experiencing, Medeni said that he would follow the way paved by Ekmeleddin İhsanoglu and would try his best. Medeni said that they support the initiatives for a solution and appreciated the active initiatives of the Turkish Cypriots with regard to finding a solution.
Foreign Minister Nami also had the opportunity to have a short meeting with Iran Deputy Foreign Minister Amir Abdolla Hian within the framework of his contacts. Hian asked about Foreign Minister Nami’s impression of Tehran. Nami thanked Tehran due to her hospitality once again.
Hian expressed that he would like to meet Foreign Minister Nami again during the meeting.
Foreign Minister Nami also met with Turkish Minister of Development Cevdet Yılmaz within the framework of his contacts.
