Minister Nami meets with German Minister of State for Europe Roth
Foreign Minister Özdil Nami is paying a visit to Germany’s capital city of Berlin together with his delegation with a view to carrying out official contacts.
Yesterday, Minister Nami had a joint meeting between delegations with Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, within the framework of his contacts in Berlin.
Foreign Minister Nami provided information to Roth, who previously visited South Cyprus in September and crossed to North Cyprus to meet with Turkish Cypriot officials and nongovernmental organizations, regarding the developments on the Island following the one-sided decision of Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades to suspend the comprehensive settlement negotiations. Foreign Minister Nami also engaged in an exchange of views regarding what can be done in order to overcome the current impasse in the shortest possible time.
Foreign Minister Nami emphasized the instrumental role of Germany, as one of the leading countries of the EU, in order for the comprehensive settlement negotiations to resume, for the EU integration process of the Turkish Cypriots to move forward, and to end the isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriots.
Minister Nami and his delegation also attended the reception organized by the TRNC Representative Office in Berlin on the occasion of the celebrations of the 31st Anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC.
Minister Nami will return to the Island today following the conclusion of his contacts with various nongovernmental organizations.
