South Cyprus rejected the proposal of Germany regarding the re-opening of two EU chapters of Turkey. In an interview to Greek Cypriot TV Channel RIK, the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Yoannis Kasulidis stated that a demand regarding the re-opening of two EU chapters of Turkey came from the German Minister for EU Affairs Michael Roth at the meeting on 29 February, 2016.
According to some sources, the newspaper reported that the German Minister for EU Affairs Michael Roth associated the re-opening of these two chapters to the refugee crisis and revealed necessarily as a demand of Germany.
Indicating that the demand of Germany caused a strong reaction from the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Yoannis Kasulidis and South Cyprus, the newspaper reported that Kasulidis transferred his views to Michael Roth that Greek Cypriot side is border on their concession.
According to the news; Kasulidis conveyed his views concerning re-opening EU chapters of Turkey will not be on the agenda.
