Within the framework of his visit to Gulf Countries, Foreign Minister Özdil Nami has continued to hold high-level official contacts in Qatar’s capital Doha today. Minister Nami met with the Qatar Minister of Economy and Commerce, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, in his office. The new investment and trade opportunities as well as the existing trade and economic relations between the two countries have been discussed in a friendly atmosphere at the meeting.

Minister Nami stated at the meeting that the support of brother country Qatar is very important for the Turkish Cypriot people. Nami who asked for the support of the Qatar government for the withdrawal of isolations on Turkish Cypriots, thanked for the warm hospitality of the Qatar government.

Expressing his pleasure for the Minister Nami’s visit, Al Thani highlighted that their contribution will be continued in order to improve the relations between the two countries.

After his visit to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Foreign Minister Özdil Nami realized a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. Minister Nami met with the Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Bin Abdullah Bin Mutib Al Rumaihi at his office for approximately one hour. Nami informed Rumaihi about the latest stage reached at the Cyprus issue and highlighted that Turkish Cypriots’ strong will for peace is continuing. Minister Nami highlighted that if the Greek leader returns to the negotiation table and reveals political will towards a solution, a federal solution can be quickly reached in Cyprus. Stating that Greek leader should realize that the negotiation table is the only place for a solution, Nami expressed his thanks to Rumaihi for receiving him.

At the meeting, Rumaihi expressed their pleasure for Nami’s visit to Qatar and stated that they will continue to support Turkish Cypriots.

Within the framework of his Qatar Contacts, today Minister Nami has also met with the Vice Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce Mohammed bin Ahmet Twar Al Kamari and the board members. Minister Nami and the authorities of the Chamber of Commerce have exchanged views on what should be done in order to improve the trade relations between Qatar and North Cyprus. At the meeting, Nami informed the authorities about the investment opportunities in the TRNC and he made an invitation to the Chamber of Commerce to visit the TRNC in order to observe the investment and trade opportunities.
