“Join the Forces” call from President Akıncı
President Mustafa Akıncı and the Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Anastasiades opened the “Glafkos Clerides Exhibition” last night. In his speech at the opening ceremony Akıncı made a call saying “join the forces” for reaching an agreement that will be accepted by both communities in Cyprus as soon as possible.
President Akıncı expressed his gratitude to Keti Clerides for donating the belongings of her father to the “Visual Arts and Research Center” which aims to contribute to the cooperation between the two communities in Cyprus in culture, education, peaceful existence and understanding.
Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Anastasiades stated in his speech that Clerides’ Visual Arts and Research Center aims to contribute to the reunification and peaceful existence in the island. Anastasiades emphasized that he defends the lasting peace on the island.
Stating that it is a privilege to be together with Akıncı at the opening ceremony, Anastasiades said that their common vision is to transform Cyprus into an island in which there are ethnic, cultural, lingual and religious cooperation and existence. Anastasiades said that this is the greatest desire which they want to make real.
