Leaders watched a theatre play in Limassol

President Akıncı and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiadis watched “Rumca küstüm, Türkçe Kırıldım” theatre play of Lefkoşa Municipality Theatre in Limassol.

Leaders attended the play with their wifes. Both people and press showed great interest for the event. Akıncı and Anastasiades made statements at the end of the theatre play.

In his speech President Akıncı said “Here we watched a play with my friend Nikos which gave us a powerful message. The message was ‘no one is faultless and innocent’. Both societies made mistake in the past. The goal is to learn from past mistakes and to give a better future to younger generation.”

As an answer to a question, Akıncı said that he has been to Limassol many times and added “Now is my friends turn to pay a visit, and of course we will come again. There will be more dialogue and we will communicate much more and freely. For this we will have to work more.”

Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiadis said in his speech “We saw a strong message. We have to work very hard to find peace. I will ask the Minister of Education to show this play at all schools around the island. The message is very powerful. We should give a chance to young generation to live in peace and prosperity.”

As an answer to a question “Will you visit the North?”Anastasiadis said “It’s among my plans to go to other side. Northern part is also a part of my country and south is also Mustafa’s. This is same for all Cypriots. It’s also my country”.
