Representatives of the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot non-governmental organizations held a meeting at the ‘Solidarity House’ yesterday in order to organize the concert which will take place on Friday, September 18, in the UN-controlled buffer zone, in Nicosia.

Pampis Kyritsis, Secretary General of PEO and Şener Elcil, Secretary General of the Turkish Cypriot Teachers Union KTÖS made a speech at the press conference.

Şener Elcil, said that the unions do not defend only workers` rights, but also the right of the country and its people to peace. “The fight for peace goes hand in hand with the struggle for workers` rights” he said.

“Cyprus is not that large to be divided but is large enough for the two communities to live together. It is our common destiny to live together in the same place” he added, calling on everyone to take part in the concert.
