Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay met with Turkey’s National Defence Minister Hulusi Akar in Ankara.
Following the meeting, Özersay replied to the questions of BRT correspondent and said that he had a fruitful discussion with Akar and they had an opportunity to discuss the issues of defence and military co-operation within the framework of changing power relations in the Eastern Mediterranean. Özersay said: “We will continue to cooperate with our strategic partner guarantor country Turkey, as always, on the issue of defence like all other issues within the framework of changing conditions.”
Pointing out that in our geography, the quality of relationship between different actors constantly changes in world politics, Özersay said that “Surely, we must take steps towards the best protection of common rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkey by taking these developments into consideration ”
