Özyiğit: “Rotating Presidency is one of the parameters of political equality”

Leader of Communal Democracy Party Cemal Özyiğit stressed that rotating presidency issue is one of the basic parameters of political equality in Cyprus negotiations. Özyiğit made evaluations about continuing negotiations for the settlement of Cyprus problem in the island to the AA reporter.  Özyiğit emphasized that negotiations have been continuing since 1968 although interruptions adding that it was a disappointment for the Turkish Cypriots that Greeks rejected the Annan Plan in 2004 but it was approved by 65% Turkish Cypriots.

Underlining that joint statement approved by sides on February 2014 is essential for determining the form of the settlement, Özyiğit reminded that in the agreement that was signed in 1960, Turkish Cypriots were one of the founding partners.

Furthermore, Özyiğit stressed the importance of ensuring the formation of council of ministers and decision making mechanism.
