President Mustafa Akıncı had a meeting with leaders of political parties and their representatives yesterday. During the meeting, Akıncı informed the leaders of political parties and authorities regarding the new negotiation process. After the meeting, the leaders of political parties made statements to the press.
In his statement to the press, CTP-BG leader and Prime Minister Yorgancıoğlu said that they discussed the negotiation process and Akıncı had shared with them the developments to date. Yorgancıoğlu also added that their meeting was a fruitful meeting.
In his statement to the press, DP-UG leader Serdar Denktaş said that Akıncı shared his views with them mutually about the meetings held with Turkey and Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiadis since he has been elected as a president.
UBP leader Özgürgün said they would be following the talks closely and hoped they would be finalised soon. Özgürgün also said that confidence-building measures needed to pave the way for a comprehensive settlement.
Furthermore, in his statement, TDP leader Cemal Özyiğit stated that the positive atmosphere which has started with election of Akıncı has reflected to the solution and peace process in a short time.
