The President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz will arrive in Cyprus for an official visit on Monday, 28 March. Schulz will have contacts both in North and South Cyprus. President Mustafa Akıncı will receive Schulz on Tuesday, 29 March at the Presidential Palace. According to the statement given by the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Schulz will visit the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) Anthropology Laboratory on Tuesday, 29 March and will discuss the issue of missing persons and the EU’s continued support to the CMP with the three members; Ms. Küçük, Mr. Nestoros and Mr. Arni. Schulz will also make a statement to the press after visiting the laboratory.
Schulz will also have a meeting with Turkish and Greek Cypriot party leaders and representatives at Ledra Palace Hotel with the initiative of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Nicosia. Slovak Ambassador to South Cyprus Oksana Tomova and President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz will make speeches.
Greek Cypriot daily Politis reported that Schulz will address a special session of the Plenary of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, March 29 and will have separate meetings with the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades and the President of the Greek Cypriot House of Representative Yiannakis Omirou.
