Hasan Taçoy
He was born in Lefkoşa in 1963. He majored in Economy and Political Science in the University of Wisconsin, USA, in 1986.
He ran his own textile factory for some time. He served three terms in the Assembly of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and two terms in the Board of Directors of Young Businessmen Association. He was the founding member of Jaycees in 1994 and served on its Board of Directors until 1998. In 1996, he was the member of the Board of Directors of the credit company owned by the Evkaf Administration.
He attended the Interactive Management Courses organized by the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School in the USA. He founded a handball team and became its Chair. He was the Head of Lefkoşa District Youth Wing of the National Unity Party. He also served as the Chair of the National Unity Party Lefkoşa District between February 1999 and May 2009.
In the general elections of 6 December 1998 and of 14 December 2003, he was elected as the Member of Parliament from the National Unity Party. He ran in the early general elections held in 20 February 2005 and 19 April 2009 and was re-elected as the Member of Parliament from the National Unity Party representing Lefkoşa.
He served as the Minister of Public Works and Transportation between 4 May, 2009 and 27 May 2010.
He joined the Democrat Party on 30 May 2013 and was elected as the Member of Parliament from Lefkoşa in the Early General Elections held on 28 July 2013. He was appointed as the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, once again, on 10 October 2014 and served as a Minister until 15 July 2015.
He resigned from the Democrat Party-National Forces on 18 March 2016. He remained as the independent member of the Parliament. In the 7 January 2018 elections, he was re-elected as the Lefkoşa Member of Parliament from the National Unity Party.
He served as the Minister of Economy and Energy in the National Unity Party – People’s Party Coalition Government established on 22 May 2019.
He has assumed his duty as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the tripartite coalition Government of the National Unity Party – Democrat Party – Rebirth Party, which was established on February 21, 2022.
He served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the tripartite coalition Government of the National Unity Party – Democrat Party – Rebirth Party, which was established on February 21, 2022 as the 26th.Government of the TRNC.
Taçoy is married with two children and speaks English.
