It was reported that the European Commission rejected the enactment related to the rates to be used in Halloumi production, which was presented by the then Commerce Minister Neoklis Silikiotis in 2012.

The Greek Cypriot daily Alithia reported that the Greek Cypriot Agriculture Minister Nikos Kuyalis said that Silikiotis presented an enactment stipulating the use of a mixture of goat, sheep and cow’s milk in halloumi production and the European Commission rejected that enactment.

The news also recorded Kuyalis’s statement that the halloumi file would not be affected by this decision of the European Commission.
