The Ministry of Health announced that the Zika virus and the mosquitoes that cause the virus alerted by the World Health Organization (WHO) have not been seen on the island so far.
In the written statement of the Ministry, it was stressed that the Zika virus which is transmitted by the ‘Aedes’ type of mosquito have not been seen either in North or South Cyprus so far and it was emphasized that the Larvacide method which has been in progress in the island for many years for the fight against malaria is effective in all species of mosquitoes. It was also indicated that the method proposed by the WHO in order to fight this disease is being fully implemented in the country.
