Foreign Minister Özdil Nami expressed that the Turkish Cypriot people have proven that they possess the EU vision for many years now and that they are a people who have taken concrete steps to achieve this goal.

The European Union (EU) Info-point center, which was established by the European Commission with the aim of bringing the Turkish Cypriot community closer to the EU by providing information pertaining to the EU legal and political arrangements and Aid Programs, has become operational today following an inauguration ceremony. During his opening speech at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Özdil Nami recalled that the Turkish Cypriot people voted in favor of the reunification of Cyprus under a federal umbrella as well as for EU membership and emphasized that this vision is still very much alive as clearly illustrated by their demonstration of political will.

Expressing the responsibility of not only the Turkish Cypriot people but also the European Union in order to keep this vision alive, Minister Nami underlined the necessity to expedite the development of projects aimed at implementing the decision of the EU taken in 2004 to lift the isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriots. Minister Nami also invited the Turkish Cypriot people to make active use of this new center. With its works, campaigns and active presence in social media, the EU Info-point center will help meet the needs of the Turkish Cypriots to obtain information regarding the EU. The Info-point is being financed under the Financial Aid Regulation provided by the EU to the Turkish Cypriots.
