Opening of the new chapters in the EU accession negotiations has been brought to the agenda due to the increasing contacts between Turkey and the European Union for the refugee crisis. Opening of the economic and monetary policies chapter in December became prominent yesterday. Bilateral contact between Turkey and Brussels has been increased in order to share the weight on Turkey which currently hosts 2.2 million Syrians.
In his statement, EU Minister of Turkey Volkan Bozkır stated that the 17th Chapter on the economic and monetary policies will be opened on 14th or 15th December. Bozkır also added that they will start a joint undertaking for opening 5-6 more chapters in 2016.
