The President of the European Council Donald Tusk who sent an official invitation to European leaders for today’s Summit, stated that the solution of the Cyprus problem is related with Turkey’s EU Accession negotiation process.
Mentioning intensive talks held in Nicosia and Ankara, Tusk stated that he held a series of contacts in Lefkoşa and Ankara within the framework of preparation of the Summit.
Tusk also expressed his belief and he said: “My conviction is that we need to find a way of using the process of re-energising EU-Turkey relations, which goes far beyond migration, so that this process also becomes an opportunity to support the settlement talks in Cyprus” (AB Haber)
