Foreign Minister Emine Çolak said that unions and organizations have a natural right to know about the negotiation process.

Minister Çolak received the Turkish Cypriot Civil Servants’ Trade Union (KTAMS) today.

Ahmet Kaptan, the Chairman of KTAMS, wished a successful term of office to Çolak at the reception. Stating that he finds Çolak’s statements on the problems at the Foreign Ministry positive, Kaptan said: “Admitting that there is a problem is the best step towards reaching a solution.”

Kaptan wanted Çolak to inform them and all the concerned unions and civil society organization about the developments in the Cyprus problem regularly.

Stating that they do not want to learn the developments through the media, they want to learn directly from the authorities, Kaptan repeated that he supports a possible settlement.

Stating that discussing problems is natural for her and solving problems of the staff is also part of her job, Foreign Minister Emine Çolak said that she acts with this consciousness of responsibility.

Çolak stated that as the negotiation process accelerates, unity of the society will be more important and said: ”Being informed is your natural right.”  It is also very important that the information is accurate.”

Stating that she sees informing about the process regularly in harmony with the President as part of her job, Çolak said that she wants to cooperate and adopt a common attitude, rather than just informing.
