Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu met today (28/09/2026) with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo and UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix at UN Headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During his meeting with DiCarlo, Ertuğruloğlu stated that any agreement on the island of Cyprus could only be based on the sovereign equality and equal international status of the two States.

He also briefed DiCarlo in detail on the Cyprus policy pursued jointly by the Turkish Cypriot side and the Republic of Türkiye.

During his meeting with Lacroix, Minister Ertuğruloğlu discussed issues concerning the activities of the UN Peacekeeping Force in the TRNC. He referred to violations by the Greek Cypriot administration in the intermediate zone and expressed his expectation that the UN Peacekeeping Force would take more effective action to prevent such incidents in the coming period.

Following the completion of his engagements in New York, Minister Ertuğruloğlu travelled to Washington. During his visit, he is expected to meet with officials, address think tanks, and meet with members of the press.
